The monitor was crapped out. Despite at least 12 calls to Viewsuckit Tech Support and HP Pavillion Tech support, and nVidia Tech Support, all I ever got was finger pointing at the other supplier. This monitor, like Viewsonic Tech Support, stinks.1) We wanted to use the DVI cable instead of the DB-15. No, it was never mistreated, or dropped -- it just came up grainey after a boot up one day.3) So then I go to the Viewsuckit Tech Support page and fill out their on-line "form" seeking a Return Material Authorization (RMA) Yes, I told them the details of the above tests showing the LCD was now grainey.4) A week and 3 days go by.absolutely no reply from Viewsuckit. Yes, I had the right cables, yes I down loaded all the right drivers, yes I followed the (lame, low tech) advice from all the tech support staffers.both e-mail and voice calls.2) After some 4-5 months, this Viewsuckit LCD monitor got all crappy & grainy.like I was on 640x400 resolution. We switched cables, checked the connectors, re-installed all the relevant new drivers, and eventually saw the exact same grainey look with a totally different computer & different cable too. Their on-line Q&A is the most pathetic 'expert system' I have ever seen (short of nothing at all). So now, as I pound out this complaint, I am on hold with Viewsuckit Tech Support for "approximately 60 to 90 minutes".Bottom line: I will never buy another Viewsuckit, and neithershould you.
I purchased this monitor from a vendor on the East coast and it arrived DOA (Dead on arrival. It took them a solid month to repair it and return it to me. I called tech support and was told that there were no speakers in my model, although all the descriptions I've seen of it indicate that there are speakers installed. I called tech support and was told that they have had the same problem on a large number of the same model. Spend a few dollars more and buy a better monitor, preferably one other than a Viewsonic. I was told that I could return it to the vendor or send it to Viewsonic for repair. After connecting it to my computer and starting the computer all I got was a white blank screen on the monitor. I did get a picture then, but the sound doesn't work.
The Viewsonic repair vacility was only forty miles from my house so rather then returning it to the vendor all the way on the East coast from my West coast residence, I thought it would be much faster to just have it repaired and returned to me since the repair facility was so close. Ha. I have external speakers I can use but I mention these things to alert others that buying a so-called bargain monitor like this one is a huge waste of money. Buyer, be doubly beware if you decid to buy this piece of junk.
Came with an installation CD. In a word, this monitor is OUTSTANDING. Price and performance are all tops. But it is actually "Plug-and-Play." That is, for me, much better. Bravo, Optiquest.
I have nothing but nice things to say about this monitor. The color is sharp and crisp and it's a nice compliment to by MacBook Pro.
It's hard to not be satisfied with a 22" LCD for $200. It nicely replaced the $400 17" monitor I bought from Alienware two years ago.
